Set of 7 Model 62 Dining Chairs by Alvar Aalto for Artek / Hedemora, Sweden, 1950s
Set of seven iconic Model 62 dining chairs designed by Alvar Aalto and produced by Artek at the Hedemora factory in Sweden during the 1950s. These rare examples showcase Aalto’s pioneering approach to organic modernism, combining innovative bent birch construction with exceptional functionality and timeless Scandinavian aesthetics.
Crafted from laminated and bent birch, the chairs display the elegant, flowing forms that became synonymous with Aalto’s furniture designs. The seats and backrests retain their original soft velvet upholstery, while the reverse side of the backrests features refined button detailing that adds a subtle decorative element to the otherwise architectural design.
Each chair is stamped “Aalto Möbler Svensk Kvalitetsprodukt,” confirming Swedish production and making this set a particularly desirable version among collectors. Produced under license in Sweden, these chairs are encountered less frequently than their Finnish counterparts and represent an important chapter in the history of Scandinavian modern design.
Combining comfort, craftsmanship, and visual lightness, the Model 62 is equally suited for dining rooms, conference settings, or curated residential interiors.
This fine set of dining chairs will complement many interior styles. A Vintage, Antique, Classic, Scandinavian, Modern, or an Art Deco home decor.
