Early 20th Century, Set of 8 Danish Art Nouveau Dining Chairs, Burl & Velvet
A refined set of eight Danish dining chairs made in burl wood, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1900–1915, a period closely associated with Danish Art Nouveau, also known as Skønvirke. The chairs reflect the movement’s emphasis on craftsmanship, organic forms, and harmonious proportions, where artistry and function are united.
The chairs feature softly curved backrests and flowing lines, inspired by natural forms and typical of Art Nouveau design. The legs are delicately shaped, contributing to an elegant and slightly sculptural expression.
The visible wood grain enhances the sense of warmth and authenticity, highlighting the quality of the wood construction. The seats have been newly reupholstered in vintage golden velvet with a soft yellow undertone, providing a refined contrast to the wooden frames and adding both comfort and tactile richness, while remaining in harmony with the period’s decorative sensibility.
Suitable for both everyday use and more formal dining settings, these chairs embody the timeless elegance and refined craftsmanship characteristic of Danish Art Nouveau furniture.
These chairs will complement a variety of interiors, particularly Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Antique, Classic, Scandinavian, or early 20th-century historic home décor.
