Set of 8 Chairs in Oak & Hessian, Henning Kjærnulf, Danish Mid Century, 1960s
A sculptural and highly recognizable set of eight high-back “Razorblade” dining chairs crafted in solid oak. Designed by Henning (Henry) Kjærnulf for E.G. Møbler and produced circa the 1960s, these chairs exemplify the bold yet refined character of mid-century Scandinavian design.
The seats have been reupholstered with a beautiful, natural hessian fabric, enhancing both comfort and visual balance while respecting the original design. The strong vertical backrests and sharply defined profiles give the chairs a distinctive architectural presence, while the solid oak construction underscores their durability and craftsmanship.
With their expressive form and timeless materiality, the chairs integrate seamlessly into a variety of interiors, including Scandinavian, modern, classic, and Art Deco settings. Rooted in a functionalist design approach, they reflect the Scandinavian balance between modernism and warmth — where clarity of form meets everyday usability.
A beautiful and versatile seating set, combining sculptural design with renewed comfort.
