A beautiful and sculptural pair of “Kurul” armchairs in oak & lambswool, designed by Henning Kjærnulf for EG Kvalitetsmøbel, Denmark, during the 1960s.
The chairs feature highly distinctive curule-style constructions with sweeping curved legs and arm supports, joined by carved circular medallions at each side. The broad oak backrests are finished with decorative carved lower edges, while the pronounced grain and warm tone of the solid oak emphasize the expressive craftsmanship and sculptural character of the design.
The seats have been newly reupholstered in high-quality natural lambswool, adding softness, texture and exceptional comfort while creating a beautiful contrast with the architectural oak frames.
With their bold curved construction, decorative carved details and generous proportions, the chairs are characteristic examples of Kjærnulf’s distinctive interpretation of Danish furniture design.
